Safeguarding

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999

The Methodist Church takes Safeguarding very seriously and is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of its life and ministry. Safeguarding is about the action the Church takes to promote a safer culture. This means we will:

  • promote the welfare of children, young people and adults
  • work to prevent abuse from occurring
  • seek to protect and respond well to those that have been abused

Banbury Methodist Circuit have a trained local church Safeguarding Officers, together with a Circuit Co-Ordinator and a District Safeguarding Officer.

All of our paid staff, Clergy, local church officers, Local Preachers and those working with children, young people and vulnerable adults are required to have on-going Safeguarding Training and a current DBS check.

The Methodist Church holds that domestic abuse in all its forms is unacceptable and incompatible with the Christian faith and a Christian way of living.

It is committed to being a safer space for all. This means ensuring that members of the Methodist Church have an awareness and understanding of domestic abuse, and know how to respond appropriately and effectively.

When victims disclose abuse, they can expect to be listened to, taken seriously, supported and referred to local professional services, as appropriate.

If you are concerned that someone you know is being badly treated, there’s help at hand.
