I originate from Kent, but the family moved to Surrey whilst I was at Junior School where we attended a small Methodist chapel. It was here that I cut my teeth in youth work and the workings of church property! I met Anne my wife during the 1980s whilst we were both working for the Methodist Missionary Society at Methodist Church House London. We continue to have a strong sense of social justice, mission and outreach to those outside the church, both local and overseas.

I have been in ministry for 30 years and have served in Cornwall, Wiltshire, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, both in rural, urban, city centre and LEP settings before coming to Banbury. Currently I am also part of the chaplaincy team for the annual Methodist Conference having also been involved in school and workplace chaplaincy.

I enjoy leading quiet days, retreats, pilgrimages and drinking coffee.

Rev Phil Robinson

I was born and raised in Winchester in Hampshire, slowly making my way up the country until I arrived in Southport in 2010 to work for Leyland Road Methodist Church as a youth worker, then continuing to serve the church as a steward, and the Southport Circuit as a local preacher. I have been married to Jules for eleven years and we have a 9 year-old daughter called Zoe. My hobbies include playing the guitar, long walks and runs and quizzes of any form. I am also a long-suffering supporter of Southampton FC.

I was challenged to explore a call into ordained ministry in October 2017 and was recommended for training in April 2019. I have recently finished three years of training in which I have been studying theology as well as working on placement – initially at Queens Hall Mission in Wigan for six months and then two years working in the Chorley and Leyland Circuit in Lancashire. I have enjoyed and have been challenged by studying the bible in greater detail and engaging with the diverse congregations I have encountered at various churches. I have a passion for discussing Scripture (even better if over coffee or food!) and exploring spirituality with groups whose voices are often marginalised – in particular neurodiverse people and those with dementia-related illnesses. I am keenly looking forward to seeing what work God has called me to in the Banbury circuit.
